Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. As tempestuous as the skies he controls, Melkeya is a formidable dragon. Many dragons in the clan avoid him because he is so quick to shift moods and they are afraid he will lash out at them with lightning, which he often has. The truth is, however, that he is so easy to anger because he is lonely and knows the other dragons avoid him because of his reputation. That is why he lets Sarcastra play tricks and pranks on him without getting mad at her, though he will chase her around and make sure she is thoroughly soaked in retaliation. Melkeya always keeps clouds around him because bright light bothers his sensitive eyes.
