It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cyu is the Clanfather of the Alaveil Clan of dragons. The first dragon to be cared for by the local human caretaker, Cyu is a kind and easygoing dragon who adores sunbathing and arranging his collection of treasures and goodies in his lair. His mate is Daressis, the Clanmother, who he met during a traditional Valentine's season celebration. Despite the prior rejections of other potential partners lowering his self-confidence, Cyu was surprised to find that the display of his lair treasures somehow impressed and wooed the massive Desipis dragon. He now finds a comfortable companionship and affectionate partner in Daressis, who helps keep the lower ranking Clan members in line, and defends him from rowdy subordinates. Cyu is not much of a fighter and would rather seek resolution to conflicts than engage in even honorable combat. He can often be found discussing Clan matters with the resident human, gathering new goodies for his hoard, or relaxing in the company of his devoted mate.
