Nocturne Dragons are a strange breed. Whenever light strikes their bodies, they are frozen in whatever position they were in. This leaves them vulnerable and they rely on camouflage to keep themselves safe. They are often mistaken for statues when in this frozen state, but Nocturne dragons do not actually turn into stone. Rather, they merely idle until the sun goes down. At night, these dragons come to life, proving themselves to be powerful fliers, although little else is known about their true behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As decreed by the Master, this nocturne dragon became the nightly sentinel of the Rose Gardens. He once bemoaned his position and everyday, the flowers reminded him of the freedom he lacked.

Then one dark and foggy night, a great scuffle was heard from the bramble of the crimson roses. The other dragons were wary and were reluctant to investigate the situation. However, because Guardian of Roses has a keen nighttime vision, he volunteered to check what was causing the ruckus and desperate growls. That was when he found a lovely black dragon. Although the thorns cut and tore into his own skin, the black dragon gradually pulled herself free with his help. Forever grateful, this black dragon now stays by Guardian's side, protecting him from danger during the day, and soaring gleefully along his side by night. Also, because of this black dragon, now his life-long mate, Guardian no longer feels imprisoned by the roses and instead feels as free as the wind.
