Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The first of the 'Hygon Monstrosities', Azul was the product of a liaison between his mother, Ikashi Rahargan, and her 5th great uncle, Turrip Rahargan. Azul himself was unaware in his early life the truth of his parentage, as he was raised as any other Rahargan, albeit out of the public's, and his stepfather's, eyes. Often, he practised magic, having an obsession with the power of darkness.

Whilst suffering no physical deformities, there was no debate as to the state of Azul's mind. As he matured and grew his wings, his behaviour became erratic, he would go from extreme bouts of happiness to chilling stillness within minutes. His mother, fearing for his safety and potential exposure, attempted to hide him away, yet the young dragon violently resisted, drawing the attention of his stepfather. Enraged at the discovery of the child, he threatened to kill Azul, unless his mother froze him as a hatchling. As such, Azul will spend the rest of his days as a hatchling, unstable and lonely.
