When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shine is a fast swimmer and is much faster than any Forrest's dragon, even Cloud. Unlike most Water dragons, her scales are a deep azure and she rarely hunts fish. Many call her a Draconian siren, for she lures elk and other herbivores to the shore where she catches them in a spiral of water. Like all of Forrest's dragons, she uses magic and her skills to her advantage. She has only one hatchling so far, yet she does not visit it's clan at all. She is third in command of the pack. Shine is best friends with Wolf's Kage.

In the Light-Dark war, Shine appears to be a neutral dragon, but she is on the Warriors of Dark with Kage and gives information to them so the war can end.
