Script Dragons are named for the markings along their wings and sides that look almost like calligraphy. The patterns correspond to no known language, and are slightly different on every dragon. These dragons only develop the characteristic markings when they reach maturity, and they are fairly capable with magic once the patterns appear.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tome and her sister, Scroll, are notable for their aristocratic behavior and wealth. They come from a decently powerful family and make their living teaching Valkmarian magic to beginners. Of the two, Tome is the most preceded by her high status. While she may not directly act above others, there is a sense of intimidation to her that makes others feel lesser. Tome is incredibly intelligent and elegant in every regard. She has the disposition of a regal queen and commands the respect of everyone around her. Though her career surrounds teaching magic to beginners, she has surprising skill in casting advanced spells. Even the legendary Mageia Xenowyrm, Enchant, acknowledges such skill. Tome herself simply cares about appearing professional in front of others. She has little reservation for manipulation or slander, unlike many of her colleagues.
