Well, the chick grew up into a chicken, but you’re still not sure how the egg got into that cave...

Melanie's egg was accidentally found among the other dragon eggs. When the egg turned out to be a chicken, everyone was surprised, but came to love the baby chick very much. Then, one day, someone noticed that she is getting along very well with the dragon hatchlings. They seemed to be calmer and healthier when she was around. They seemed to love her very much! The hatchlings grew up to be more patient and tolerant dragons. Even when they become adults, the dragons still love to visit Melanie and she appreciates their company. Sometimes the big dragons gather around her just like they did when they were little and she tells them their favourite good-night stories. Their eyes glow and sparkle in wonder as they listen.

Now Melanie always helps out in the nursery. She has saved many eggs and hatchlings and is raising them the way they should be raised by their mothers, but because of the human scent covering them, are rejected.
