Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

VioletSmile is a little Purple Dragon hatchling daredevil. She likes to dive off of high cliffs to only spread her wings right before she would hit the ground. VioletSmile learned this from her mother and idol, SmilingViolet. The cute hatchling, VioletSmile, likes to chase rabbits. She's a strict vegetarian, but she loves the chase. She isn't fast enough to actually catch the rabbits, but they don't know that. She also chases squirrels, rats, and any bird that doesn't fly off. She loves to chase the chickens from the farm nearest her cave. In the last hundred years, the chickens have began to teach their chicks that the odd purple monster never eats them. So they don't run themselves until they drop, just until they can duck behind some other bird that VioletSmile can chase.
