Harvest Dragons are a large, flightless breed most often found in heavily forested mountains. Normally shy, these omnivorous dragons keep to themselves in remote regions, but in the fall they descend from their high territory to search for food—and lots of it. During the autumn months, harvest dragons will eat whatever they can find, from large and small animals to nuts and fruit. In the winter they retreat into large caves and hibernate until spring, living off the fat they have built up.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

On a cool night in August a dragon crept out from behind a tree. She lifted her head, sniffing the air. A cool mountain breeze whistled through the trees and she jumped. Slowly she slunk down the mountainside and came to a halt right outside a field. She started at one end and ate everything growing in that field. By the time she was done not a plant was left for the farmer to harvest the next day. Quietly she walked back to her cave where she would spend the next five or six months hibernating.
