Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Flame is one of the mere two dragons that survived from their master's first brood of eggs. Although frozen without a gender to save its life, flame is referred to as a male, and does not object. At first there was one, but it was neglected and died quickly, and then of the next brood came four eggs, one ended up a tropical one, and another black. Their names were Nytefyres, and well... the other died before a name was given, and then only a day later, came in a drake and a frilled dragon. Nytefyres and Flame very soon bonded closely, and played games around their masters feet, trying to trip her. But in four days the drake had become ill, and it had spread to NyteFyres, and then finally to flame, they were all very sickly, and in another day, NyteFyres lay dead on the ground, with Flame lying next to her... his closest friend was gone... He became very sickly as well, he was not supposed to make it through that one night, but miraculously, his master found a way to freeze him in time.
