Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nitric AciD4 has the ravenous appetite of his father and the charming social graces of his mother, making it very difficult for other dragons to explain why they don't want him at their banquet parties. Curiously enough, he always manages to remain thin. As his mother's favorite of all her children, Nitric has enjoyed the perks of the highly esteemed Z'club growing up, taking particular interest in the buffet lines. Even though he himself doesn't belong, you have to have that certain "Z'esque" about you, all immediate family of club members are permitted to attend. When queried over the origins of his name, his mother will say it was his father's doing. Much to the Brute's dismay, Nitric AciD4, though born with a rare set of blood-red fins, has never shown the slightest inkling for violence... except when it comes to food. After being told he is his father's greatest disappointment in life, it is sufficed to say they do not get along, which is how Nitric would like it to stay.
