Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mochana Kona Kaffeinica... the Empress Kona for short... is the ruler of the JavaTiger Clan and the leader of its Shimmerscale Court. Her task as empress is a challenging one... it takes a great deal of tact, and tolerance to effectively lead a true multi-species clan of dragons, with all of the varying beliefs and customs that that would imply. Fortunately, these are qualities, along with a good supply of energy and a formidable intelligence, that Kona possesses in abundance. It is a great responsibility for one dragon to shoulder but she does her best to rule the Clan of the JavaTiger wisely and well, seeing that each is treated fairly and that justice is done among them, and under her leadership the clan has prospered. In exchange the other dragons of the clan do their best to honor their shining, shimmer scaled ruler as she deserves. The clan's finest caves and treasures are at her disposal, as is the first choice of whatever food the clan brings back to their lairs.
