Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It already has a pair of wings, but it can’t fly very well with them.

And look! It’s gotten bigger and has grown a second pair of wings, making it able to fly better than any hatchling you’ve ever seen.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This little hatchling loves to collect feathers. He collects them everywhere that he spots them, on the ground, in trees, fluttering in the air, pulled off his kills. His lair is lined thickly with feathers, providing him a wonderfully warm and soft place to sleep. The pride of his collection is a full peacock tail, carefully displayed on the left back wall of his lair.
