Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Over the years, the clan has become home to many species of dragon who embody aspects of the end-of-year holiday; generosity, surprise, purity, magic, and grace. Sylphey and her kin represent cleansing. Her orb, whose light grows stronger as the winter solstice approaches, soothes the tempers of those who see it, quelling disputes and encouraging forgiveness. To those whose quarrels run too deep to be banished by a simple clearing of the head, she offers advice and suggests compromises. Her mission is to make sure that by the time the winter celebration occurs, all of the clan is united in holiday spirit, with no bad feelings to taint the closing of each year.
