Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tangent may not be the most well bred tinsel, or even the shortest lineaged, though through her gracious gifting unto her owner, she holds a special place within Blear's heart. Born of an unconventional meeting between two large and well established families it was clear she would not be keen to stay, despite each family's yearn to have her be one of them. She found her way to the home of a young dragon breeder by the name of Francis Blearington. Inexperienced as he was, he did not know what to make of her surprisingly reflective scales and rambunctious yet dignified nature, yet raised her as any other dragon to cross his way, feeling it to be his duty. Only now as time has passed and experience grown, he fully realises her potential.
