Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glows with some form of arcane energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Aixic's power, even for a Magi, is formidable. He's more intelligent than any of the scatterbrained ramblers of The Flight—but no one else seems to think so. He considers his size and relative youth to be the obstacle on his path to being loved and lauded by everyone, so he tries to prove himself by learning increasingly complex spells and reminding everyone of his accomplishments. The fact that this only makes the other dragons more inclined to pity or ignore him hasn't occurred to him yet.

The moment he saw the Cheese Cesaerium sighing over never being able to be a real dragon, he knew his magic was the remedy. He saw the lonely animated object as the first step to earning everyone's praises. But doing such a drastic spell proved harder than Aixic guessed, and he's yet to even come close to success. Still, Cesaerium is a steadfast friend despite Aixic's failings. While he hasn't earned the whole Flight's adulations for his greatness, he's at least earned one pseudo-dragon's love.
