Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Merageth Trotter, named after her mother (Merageth, a Sunsong) and father (Minty Trotter), is not a dominant Horse Dragon, unlike her friend 'Pending' (yes, that is her name). Merageth prefers to be a guard of the cave, keeping watch since there is no Guardian Dragon. She was not built to fight, but is fast enough that if she saw any danger coming she could speedily get back and warn her father and the other dragons present. She does not play a big roll in her owner Natasha's life, but unlike some dragons in Natasha's Cave, this does not make her sad. She's often wondered what it would be like to have been born wild, and dreams of running away to the wild, but loves her father too much to really consider it.
