Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Darksong Thuwed is a quiet, rather melancholy dragon.  He's a member of the Goldenmage Assembly and, since he lacks the temperament to be a good teacher, he helps with Ilnejal's research.  Despite considerable practice, Darksong remains a decidedly average magic-user, which at one time depressed him so much that Ilnejal finally went searching through Darksong's ancestors in search of something that would cheer him up.  Ilnejal was finally able to connect Darksong with two members of the legendary Thuwed clan.  True, he was able to find multiple connections to this one pair, but famous ancestors were famous ancestors.  Now, Darksong has something to be proud of when his average magical status starts to depress him, and while the inbreeding in his lineage might offend some of the stuffier, more pedigree-oriented members of the Goldenmage Assembly, his mate Erilja couldn't care less—she loves him for who he is, not for his ancestors.
