Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ilbareth was named for the first dragon of the Guardian of the Clan who perished many years ago in a hunting accident. He was found as an egg, and hatched and raised as part of the Digi Clan. Ilbareth would be mated to Guilin, but the traumatic events of seeing a hatchling of Ichibousenri die in a most gruesome way has permanently frozen the young white as a hatchling. Which is actually a good thing, as Guilin was frozen not long after, following Ilbareth's freezing.

Due to his truama, Ilbareth is soft spoken and will not interact with any of the newer hatchlings until they grow into adulthood. When the Guardian is away, he is cared for by Silarin and Feanir, whom he considers as his parents.
