Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tikasha (tik-ah-shah) is a specific type of Omea (a clan's special helper). With the ability to use night-vision, Tikasha's job is to bring prey back to the clan. She hunts at night because it's dark at and no one will see her, and most dragons are sleeping, so they will be unable to notice her. Being very intellegent, Tikasha knows what to do if she gets busted. She always says, "Your soul is meant to be in Dragon Heaven, not on this Earth." As a hatchling, Tikasha loved to play with her companion, Shaaka a Vine hatchling. Tikasha has full trust in humans, as she has lived her whole life with them.
