It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unady, daughter of Usena, was given to Flight for her to take care of. Living in the Mountains of Elgar in a large cave that serves as Flight's home, Unady grew up alongside three other hatchlings, two of which left the Mountains of Elgar forever. After their departure, Flight became depressed and it was Unady who finally cheered her up, comforting her. Due to these series of events, Flight and Unady are extremely close, causing some of the other dragons Flight has raised have become jealous. Unady's Pink dragon sister, Nemul, took it upon herself to personally try and make Unady's life miserable with constant teasing and pranks. Unady, always having been a soft-spoken dragon, never told anyone about Nemul's teasing. When some of the older dragons finally discovered what was going on they told Flight immediately and the teasing was put to a stop. Unady now lives in the forest known as Tohrutyr, the largest in the Mountains of Elgar.
