Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
A gentle and composed creature, Sundown was born to a mother who felt the need to travel far north, well outside the tropical boundaries typical of their species. While there are some perks to the polar (a few months of near near constant sunlight being chief among them), however, there are also some major downsides--such as the several months of near complete darkness that drive many among the clan to depression and hysteria. While Sundown feels these effects even more keenly than most, creature of the sun as he is, his kind heart and comforting words bring solace to those around him, helping all endure the hardships of the dark. While he works tirelessly to help all who need him, none are given more attention than his mate, Sunup, an energetic and excitable creature. The two are often considered an odd pair due to the blatant contrast between their personalities, but their love is a deep and touching one. Perhaps it was fate, then, that brought two sunsongs together in the far north!
