And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

He brings it up whenever possible ("What wonderful weather we're having!"—"Yeah, snow is okay. Hey, speaking of weather, I am a snow-loving dragon. As a Christmas breed, S.O.D. manages to avoid sustaining major injuries from the routine beatings other, pitifully single hatchlings give him. While he does get hurt every once in a while, they usually back off once he threatens to call off Christmas--oh, hey, speaking of Christmas, bet you can't guess what he got his girlfriend this year!
