Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jasper von Peppermint is quite the Christmas dragon. He, along with his brother Allen von Peppermint, are in charge of decorating the clan every Christmas season with the assistance of a gang of mischievous pygmies. However, this doesn't mean the two get along well—in fact, at times, they seem to be waging a decoration war. Jasper is in charge of the eastern section of the clan territory, and he abhors traditional decorations. Instead, out come the flashing, twinkling ornaments, and the brightly painted pinecones and the multi-colored Christmas trees sprayed with a potpourri of different paints! But the only trouble is the shared section, the territory around the clan camp. The brothers tear down each other's decorations to put their own, which often gives the other dragons headaches as they screech at each other in the middle of the night. Sometimes, they wonder if the two will ever get along, but that's not true—aside from this major dispute, they're close friends.
