Spirit Ward Dragons are a special breed that ward off evil spirits—at least, that’s what the legends say. During nighttime festivals, people love to see these dragons, because they believe that the dragons guard against evil spirits. The dragons are dark-colored, but glow with a flame-colored internal light that has an intensity that they control.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Temporal Whisper is a strange Spirit Ward. He journeyed far from his home to the place where Fotamecus, the great Chrono Xenowyrm dwelled, and sought to learn the secrets of time magic. After many years of study, he has gained mastery over time dilation, which he uses to assist his human master in their studies and other pursuits.

As a servant to the draconic Court of Dreamers, he is often chased down by the magi dragons who wish to learn his power and employ it for the betterment of the clan, but they often scoff and ignore Whisper's warnings of the ill effects of time dilation; If one wishes to speed up time, it will eventually slow down an equal amount, and vice versa. This complication of time dilation is impossible for normal magi and witches and sorcerers to avoid, and is the reason Whisper eventually gave up trying to fully master the magic. Though he still finds it enjoyable and useful on occasion, he is always careful to keep it in moderation.
