Turpentine Dragons are named for the oil that covers their scales. This oil resembles turpentine in odor and is mildly toxic; it will not kill but it burns to the touch and will cause illness in anyone who ingests it. Turpentine Dragons roam in large packs, often stealing food from larger dragons, though they are able to hunt for themselves if necessary. Many other breeds consider Turpentine Dragons to be pests, so they primarily breed among themselves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

OilyFace is a sensitive dragon who wants nothing more than to relax in the shade of an old oak tree with someone special. She met someone special one day when she was walking along the beach one moonlit night. She saw a glowing blue light and followed it, leading her to BlueBall. Despite him not being a Turpentine dragon she realized that he did not expect her to act like the others of her kind. He did not care if she did not roam in a pack or stole food from other dragons. They quickly fell in love. They wandered through the orchard, watched the birds fly, and watched the sparkling ocean at the edge of their territory. One night when they were walking along the beach BlueBall asked if she would be his one and only. Bouncing with joy she said yes and they proceeded to have their first egg later that year. She hopes to share with her child the beauty of the world and the serene quiet of the night. She plans to have many more children and to allow her family to grow.
