When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unlike most dragons she knew, Altana had been named when she was matured into an adult. She was one of the few ocean swimming serpents who traveled in water much and had seen many other dragons in the ocean.

Two of her friends are Glacial Sea, and Cold sea. Not even they can swim as good as she can, because she has been living in the ocean her entire life. Her only regret is that she chose to be a serpentine dragon as she had the choice to be as she is now, or to be like Glacial and Cold.

She travels upriver and is not a merciful dragon to those who try and hurt her. Her personality is sharp like a blade as she is serious and has a fiery temper known to happen at any moment, and there are many other things that are knife like about her.
