This is a baby chick, not a dragon. So what was it doing in the dragons’ cave?

Touca is a very nervous and confused little chick.  When she hatched, the first thing she saw was a big white dragon, and immediately took that creature to be her mother.  She follows the dragon around the cave as it goes about tending to injured dragons.  She sleeps under the wings of the dragon's daughter, a little white hatchling.  But whenever one of the white dragons isn't near to protect her, the black hatchlings decide to practice their hunting with her.  She so far has always managed to hide somewhere until her adopted mother can come rescue her.
