Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Saccharin is a tiny shrimp of a Yulebuck, as Christmas dragons are often called. He has a generally benevolent demeanor, and wishes everybody well. He is only often seen by his cave members, but sometimes he goes to visit the hatchlings in other caves, handing out sweets. The owner of one such cave saw Saccharin visiting the hatchlings one day, and decided to name a sweet that they had made after him.
