Crested Amphipteres are social dragons. They prefer humid, heavily forested areas, and can often be found draping in large groups over thicker tree branches. Females tend to be more aggressive and have shorter, thicker bodies than the more colorful, larger-crested males. They are also a rather vocal breed and can imitate a wide variety of sounds, particularly when living with other species. These dragons typically mate for life. They choose their partner carefully and become very attached. Some Crested Amphipteres have been known to starve themselves to death out of grief after the loss of their mate.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
