Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Keezil is a frozen hatchling with a knack for adventure. When he stumbles out of the cave, he usually ends up stuck on top of a tree or trapped in the bottom of a pit dug by Yelshnii (who enjoys playing tricks on her fellow cave mates). Keezil often forgets that he can fly, and will often wait until his poor "babysitter" Veldin finds him and saves him.

Keezil takes interest in Veldin's healing abilities, and will often join her around the cave and watch her take care of the other dragons. He took a very keen interest in Gwonam's case, especially.
