Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has brightly colored fins on its back.
And look! It has grown larger fins! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
User Description
"End the injustice!!" this hatchling is often heard screeching, flaring her fins indignantly. No one knows her name (if she even HAS one), but almost every dragon knows her by sight. She will often persuade her peers to paint the initials 'EDD' (short for 'End Dorsal Discrimination') onto her dorsal fin before she goes out to protest, pacing in front of every cave she can find while trying to make her point clear.
The cause is simple: to end discrimination against Dorsals with a purple fin instead of the striking red one that is considered so valuable. All too often, the purple variants are abandoned, abused and neglected, simply because they're common. Few give them the attention they deserve and while most of them pretend to not care, some of the more outspoken ones have chosen to protest against the unfair treatment.
A worthy cause. End Dorsal discrimination now; give these dragons some love.
