Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.
Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.
User Description
Soleira, or just Leira as she prefers, is often seen in Idiome's company, constantly grumbling about this or that. She doesn't have a foul disposition by nature, but being with Idiome does that to her.
She's the one who most often pulls him out of all the scrapes he miraculously manages to get himself into. Dragging him by the ear to the healers after he eats something incompatible with his system or boredly reminding him to flap his wings when he forgets how to fly. It's like constantly babysitting an amnesiatic, ADHD toddler with an amoeba for a brain, she'll complain.
According to Leira, the Elders tasked her with looking out for him and making sure he doesn't get himself killed. But what she never tells anyone is that she was the one who asked to look after Idiome. She secretly likes being needed the way Idiome needs her and what's more he can be sweet when he's not being an imbecile. Very, very secretly, she's somewhat infatuated with him, although she has no idea why.
