Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite the heat of the desert, it loves to run around.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

After a near-death experience as an egg, Wastelande stopped growing. This has caused some worry about what will happen to a dragon that still looks like it just hatched out of its egg and how it will survive if it ever has to live on its own. However, Wastelande does not care, instead preferring to nip at other dragons and act like a perfectly normal hatchling. It does not face the same problems as adults of its breed do regarding food, easily filling its stomach with insects and plants. Wastelande does, unlike most of its breed, try to form bonds with other dragons. It has been rejected time and time again, but still holds hope deep in its heart that it will one day find a friend.
