Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Isline is a young dragoness with a powerful imagination—the simplest idea sends her into long stretches of pondering, imagining the fullest, strangest version of the idea possible. She'll express her thinking openly, sometimes trapping people who are lulled by her natural aura of dreaminess. Otherwise, she's a sweet and pleasant dragon, willing to help out anyone with a problem—until they mention that it's, for example, a mouse problem, which leads her to imagine a vivid mouse society, ruled by a multi-bodied rat king, fused at the tail... At this point, she's useless until someone gives her a good smack.

While well-liked among the Flight, she has a particularly strong friendship with the philosophizing Magi duo, Apollodoros and Artemidora, who find her imaginings the subject of some curiosity. When she's paying enough attention, she'll talk eagerly about the doubtful nature of reality with them; if not, they'll stay and listen to her musings until they run their full course.
