Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Saika is the first drake raised by Hotaru and Aiko. Her names means "Flower Full of Color" in Japanese. Like all the drakes, Saika is very cheerful and fun loving. She loves to sing, and to dance. She really likes hanging out with the colony's human caretaker, Remy. She frequently dances around Remy, bouncing, and chirping "Friends, Friends, Friends! Me and Remy are Friends!" She a bit hyper, but she's really endeared herself to everyone in the colony. Since Remy really enjoys the company of the drakes, all of them (including Saika) live in Remy's cottage. Come nighttime there's a giant pile of drakes on the bed; and usually one or two winds up on top of poor Remy. Remy always jokes that each morning is a blessing, since it means she didn't choke on a drake in the middle of the night. Saika is mated to Tamotsu. They really love each other, and enjoy dancing in the field, and chasing fireflies at night. The two of them often help Remy in her garden, and curl up by her feet at night.
