Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has an insatiable appetite.

And look! It’s developed a sharp, bony crest on its snout. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling loves when large things fall on top of unsuspecting ones below. He rams into trees just to watch them topple, breaks dams to watch the wall of water cascade in a flood, and works to intentionally cause an avalanche.

He prefers watching the aftermath more than watching the fall itself. One theory is that when he was young, his parent would toss food over to him and it would land with a huge crash; as a result, he associates large crashes with something good.

Whatever the reason he causes them, his crashes grow more dangerous for those around as he grows in size. Most of the surrounding communities have moved away or underground for their protection.
