Radiant Angel Dragons are known for their intuition—they always seem to know when someone is feeling down, and will do what they can to provide cheer. These dragons are curious and will poke their noses into anything. They communicate with one another by making sounds similar to singing. It is said that the golden feathers shed from their whiskers can rekindle lost feelings of love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Because of a rare genetic anomaly, Downy Radiance's emerged from his egg with a layer of soft, fine feathers coating his entire body. These feathers remained affixed to his scales even after he'd reached maturity, which in turn earned him his name. One day, while out feasting on goji berries, he had a chance encounter with Kroova Inbar, who had been out stretching his legs while his human master was occupied with mending their ship's sail. While the two dragons traded stories, Downy Radiance learned of the dragons in Shield Tail and Dark Drakon's herd, particularly the Arsani Dragon, Empatha, who had lived through a tragic ordeal. Moved by Empatha's story, Downy Radiance decided to leave his homeland and journey to the island where Shield Tail and Dark Drakon's herd resided. Using the magic infused within his feathers, Downy Radiance helped soothe the emotional scars that still remained in Empatha's heart. Thus, it came as no surprise when the two dragons became mates soon afterward.
