Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

MagmaDreamer is a Magma Dragon hatchling who really lights up the night. He glows like fresh lava flowing from a vent. He's very conspicuous, unless he hides right in the lava itself. MagmaDreamer doesn't like to stand out, so he basically spends all his time in and around the molten rock flows. He rarely sees his Ice Dragon mother IceCapDreamer, as she prefers the frozen North for most of the year, so he spends most of his time with his father.
