Lunar Heralds are deeply attuned to the two moons of Valkemare, Aurax and Cirion. Strictly nocturnal, they draw energy from moonlight and will only hunt when the moons have waned. When breeding, the amount of moonlight the parents receive from each moon will determine the color of the egg produced. When a Lunar Herald is struck by direct moonlight, an illusion of multiple wings may appear. Witnessing a Lunar Herald’s illusory wings is commonly believed to be a sign of good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Akizakura rarely ventures outside her living caves and the craggy areas that border the caverns, but when she does, it is usually to collect seeds or other supplies for the garden she watches over during the cloudy nights. Nestled within a natural rock formation that consists of spire-like rocks that provide cover from all directions, Aki's flower garden holds only night-blooming flowers. No one knows if she planned it all along or she happened to be lucky enough to stumble upon it; Aki keeps to herself and hides among the rocks if someone approaches her while she is tending the flowers.
