Royal Crimson Dragons are so named due to their massive size and confident, regal bearing. Most of the time they are laid back, ignoring non-prey creatures smaller than themselves, although they will occasionally take fresh kills from other dragons as a reminder of their place in the social order. Although there are few other dragons large enough to pose a threat to Royal Crimsons, they have little tolerance for potential rivals and will fiercely defend their territory from such intruders.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Born of a lethal combination of lumina and royal crimson, Exveziji takes pride and vanity to dangerous new levels. Believing herself to be not only the world's most beautiful dragon, but also its strongest and most noble, she believes that lesser beings should do more than just respect her--they should worship her, too. Preying on the weak-minded, she's started more than one cult in her name, and her adoring followers are frequently instructed to add more and more members to their ranks. While she's moving in the shadows for now, content for the moment to live on their adoration and offerings, she dreams of greater things... darker things... of a whole world caught beneath her spell. But while she doesn't know it yet, there's at least one dragon who's caught on to her plan, and that dragon just might be the death of her.
