Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ray is known for being surprisingly calm. It's difficult to get a rise out of him. He forgives easy, believing the world is messed up enough as it is. Forgiveness is the first step to happiness.

Despite sometime seeming lazy, Ray actually is a fairly dangerous opponent; although it takes much to anger him. The only times he has ever showed this side of himself is when his close friend Zueko is threatened. Their friendship is surprisingly strong and Ray acts as a major mentor for the moody hellfire. Ray sees the good in everyone above the bad and often encourages Zueko to do the same. Besides that, Ray is mature beyond his years and one of the wisest dragons this generation. He often seems to know things before they happen; although this may just be due to all of the silent observing he does.
