Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

There once was a knight whose honor and purity of heart so impressed the Elder of Clan Chiharu that he named his first son after that human. Cail Lantis grew up to be every bit as strong and noble as his namesake, eventually taking his father's place as the head of the clan.

Lantis' fatal flaws are naivete and over-confidence. He doesn't always listen to the advice of his clan members in deciding what to do about a threat, and most often his decision is to stay and fight when most everyone else has agreed that evasive action would be safer. Breed-specific temperaments aside, he really believes the best of every dragon he deals with: that Hellfire Wyvern isn't really malicious, she's just very concerned about her own clan! This sort of behavior especially frustrates his friend, Aushekai, who is fond of stating that Lantis is old enough to know better but he just... doesn't.
