When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gojiirah is not really a member of Dream-of-Mirrors' pack, but he fell in love with her many years ago and ceaselessly pursues her. She has dwelled in a deep lake near the center of the pack's territory since long before the pack existed, and thus finds it difficult to escape his attentions, as she would rather die than abandon her home. Gojiirah does not feel mistreated by him, but she also has no interest in him, yet he has always been so courteous and respectful towards her that she has trouble communicating her disinterest with finality, except when he actually proposes mating, which she always refuses firmly. For her part, she is hoping that another blue dragon moves into the lake soon, as that may be the only way she can show him that it's never going to happen.
