Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Reala Nightmaren, one of the brothers of NiGHTS Nightmaren, is the complete opposite of NiGHTS. Brash and arrogant, Reala isn't the kind of type anyone could get along with. Although he's taken quite a liking to Guardian of the Stars, no one knows about it. He can be often seen blowing fire to his own amusement, or talking with Reala, his younger sister who bore almost the same name as him. Once you get to know him, he can be a softy at times. He'll protect Reala at all costs, even at his own life. He deeply cares for his younger sister, Reala. When Reala was about to die before she matured, Reala Nightmaren had no choice but to freeze her, so she would survive. NiGHTS-fandom didn't quite like his decision, but nonetheless, she agreed to do so, since she cared about Reala as well.
