Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tightly gripping his sword and shield, the knight crept forward to the edge of the clearing. He saw the girl first, desperately searching through a heavy wicker basket, before his eyes lit upon the black dragon watching her closely, half hidden in the gloom.

'She must be looking for something to appease the dragon so it wont eat her' thought the knight. He took a step forward and then looked down at the cracking twig he had trodden on.

He looked up into the eyes of the young girl, who had come to investigate the noise.

"What are you doing here" she asked

"Don't worry fair maiden!" exclaimed the knight "I have come to rescue you from the clutches of this evil beast!"

The girl looked back at the black dragon, who shrugged and ate the last of the jerky she had brought him, before turning back to the knight.

She regarded him for a moment, then sighed and cracked him over the head with her basket.

When the knight came round, both the girl and the dragon had gone.
