Paper Dragons are not truly living creatures. They are pieces of parchment enchanted by magic, and as such, are very vulnerable to fire. However, they behave almost like dragons. The only place where their behavior differs is breeding: paper dragons cannot breed.

Charta de Vitam is one of Phoenix's dragons. Vitam was created by Trouble Magnet, a Magi hatchling. It was an accident. Trouble Magnet, as her name suggests, is always getting into mischief, but this time her curiosity turned out more useful than normal when she accidentally conjured all of Phoenix's papers together into a papercraft egg. Phoenix was less than amused that her studies and notes (one of which was the scroll she had used to keep record of her dragons) had been turned alive, but she soon forgave the hatchling and turned her attention to the egg, to figure out how to care for it.

Vitam is a curious thing. Although he technically has no gender, most of the dragons consider him male. Additionally, he does not speak, or simply can't, and he seems to be very unsuspecting and ignorant of just how easily some of the other dragons could destroy him. He keeps residence in Phoenix's study, where none of the other dragons are allowed (unless they sneak in, as Trouble Magnet did).
