Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Rosarot is the youngest among the Pinks of the clan. He loves to be doted on by the adults and have them take care of of all his needs, but he hates the thought of one day joining the ranks of these giant klutzes who are barely more than slaves to hatchlings. So he simply joined up with Vi and Peble and their band of eternally young hatchlings, thereby avoiding that dreadful fate.
