Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Natsumine comes from a small clan of summer dragons residing in the forests of Japan. Due to a great war that had occurred long before Natsumine had hatched, the dragons of her clan do not welcome any intruders or fighting. They consider fighting to be lowly and grotesque. Even so, that does not mean that these dragons don't know how to fight. When the time comes, the summer dragons can become extremely vicious.

Natsumine became an outcast when she tended to the wounds of a black warrior dragon named Isander. He had gotten in a vicious battle with a Magi dragon and took shelter in Natsumine's forest. After a while, the two fell in love, much to the disapproval of Natsumine's clan. They were chased to the borders of the forest, and so, Isander took her back to his homeland in the mountains of Romania.

During the winter, Natsumine hides away in her cave, to escape the frigid winds of the mountain. She comes out again in early spring, and enjoys feeling the warm rays of the sun upon he
