When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

He is a very mellow dragon, often resting in a coral reef enjoying the peaceful scenery. Unlike most water dragons, Vishk was born on a merchant's ship in the midst of the Pacific Ocean. He was raised by the captains' daughter, who told no one of his presence, and nurtured him till a disastrous hurricane formed. The ship was destroyed and only a handful survived it, among them the girl. Vishk came to her rescue and kept her alive off of raw fish until he made it to land. There he bid her farewell, for a tribe of islanders promised the young dragon to protect her. Since then, he has traveled the world, swimming inland wherever possible. By doing this, he has learned most of the worlds' languages and can understand them very well. He enjoys the taste of blue shark with a side of jellyfish and eel.
